About the Event

Chris Brand, President/CEO of Friends of Disable Adults and Children (FODAC) will be the guest speaker at the Atlanta Post Polio Association meeting which will be held Saturday, June 5 from 1-3 pm through the zoom webinar.  He will discuss how his organization helps for disaster preparedness throughout the country and internationally.  He will discuss his organizations role to India which is currently experiencing a wave of Covid-19 disaster crisis.  This includes distribution of ventilators and life saving items.  There is currently also an oxygen shortage.

Chris has had a lifetime of experience with disability issues and worked at three different companies doing accessibility to vans and automobiles and then became a rehabilitation specialist at the Gwinnett Medical Health System working in-patient, sports medicine and acute rehab.  He is a member of the Georgia Voluntary Organizations Active in disasters and has established a relationship with Red Cross.  He currently serves on the national Task Force for Disaster Preparedness and the National Task Force for ReUse of Assistive Technology.  He also serves on the Board of the Georgia Tools for Life Disaster Board at GA Tech.  He is an active Rotarian.

He is married and has three children and is active at the Briarlake Baptist Church in Decatur.
