About the Event
Melanie McNeil, Esq. will be the guest speaker for the Atlanta Post Polio Association, Saturday, February 4 from 1-3 pm. Melanie is the Georgia State Long Term Care Ombudsman. Long term care ombudsmen are advocates for residents who live in skilled nursing facilities. This includes Personal Care Homes, Assisted living communities, and Community Living Arrangements.
Prior to the role of Long Term Care Ombudsman in 2010 she held public policy positions for the Georgia Council on Aging. She has been immediate past president of the National Association of State Long-Term Care Ombudsman Programs, a member of the United States Ombudsman Association, the Georgia Gerontology Society and a governor's appointee to the Georgia Commission on Family Violence. Melanie was an honors graduate of Western Illinois University and a cum laude graduate of Georgia State University College of Law. She is admitted to practice law in Georgia and Colorado.
